Not often enough do I get a chance to take pictures of my own love’s. At 5yrs and 3yrs , Ayden and Ava could care less that Mommy wants to take pictures, and I usually end up bribing them with Dove Chocolate’s.. (yes they have great taste), BUT our youngest Adeline is another story. She’s at that FUN 6 month stage where her eyes light up at my goofy antics, and there’s a smile constantly plastered on her beautiful face (And these days that smile is followed with a lot of drool as teething has officially hit her hard) What else is Miss Addie doing?? CRAWLING! YAY!!
Since my kids are home with me today I got a chance to sit and play with Addie while her older siblings had nap/quiet time… It’s amazing how the world can just fade away, the “tidy” house, the constant to do lists & lists, the piles of fabrics & ribbons that need to be formed into wearable designs, the laundry (YUCK)….. all gone as soon as your child looks at you with that big toothless (for now!) grin, those bright eyes and dimples a flashing, and reaches for you.. Gets me every time!
After some playtime, we got down to work and Addie modeled some of Dee’s Desyns awesome hats! These hats are so comfortable & soft Addie didn’t mind wearing them at all, she never once reached up to take them off! But since it’s such a warm day here today I didn’t want them on her to long… so we tried on Dee’s latest creation, the flower headband! I love it!!
Then Addie went on to “model” some of my designs (Captured By Maggie Designs).. by this point there was still a smile on her face.. but she was DONE. lol!
Captured By Maggie Designs, new products & a new name! {Boutique MN, Photography Props MN}
You may or may not already noticed that I have changed the name of my business. I have added a new part to my business and that is creating handmade boutique items for sale, and for use at my sessions. It’s a win win. To have my name more clearly define what I offer, instead of Captured Photography By Maggie, my trade name is now: Captured By Maggie- Photography & Designs
I have started to make the change on some items, but it will take a little while to make the changes across the board, so here’s your heads up. I will still be offering the same photography services, but now I make some of my own props, so for my clients it’s a win win because props will be able to be more custom & unique for each session!!

Yep, I”m officially on maternity leave, and while I”m not taking new sessions, I am working. I have a lot of behind the scenes design to get done as well as tweaking my pricing/services and more! I’ve learned a new motto, well 2.
KISS= Keep It Simple Stupid and Just Do You, Just Shoot You.
So what does this mean? I’m simplifying my services/pricing/products to make things easier on my clients and my self. I’m also offering services and products that I am proud of rather than every product out there just because it’s out there.

Christmas Cards, Christmas Cards!!
So this year I decided to design my clients Christmas Cards, and they’ve been received really well! Which is exciting!! I’ve always loved to design things, and always wondered when I’d find my creative nitche, my photography business has really done that for me, and everyday I count myself SO blessed!!
This summer/fall I was a album designing QUEEN! When I say album I actually mean Coffee Table Books for my brides, as well as Guestbooks, and Books for Seniors, Babies & Maternity Sessions. Fun Fun!! Now this time of year however it’s Christmas Cards!

When it rains it pours?? Who said this is a bad thing?!
This week has been pretty amazing for me when it comes to my photography business.. I’ve booked 2 weddings for next year, gotten some pretty amazing compliments on my work from potential clients, and recieved some amazing compliments on my work from current clients.. All in all I need to quit 2nd guessing my decision to go into business for myself. It’s hard sometimes, not because I question my ability, but because I question paying the bills.. I’m married to a Financial Analyst.. which is great sometimes because I don’t make the financial mistakes I did in my youth (I have to pause, man did I just say that!? I’m not even 30 yet! I’m still young!! . But it’s also hard sometimes because I have to present a business plan if I want to get my hair cut (ok, not seriously.. well not anymore.. he’s gotten much better LOL!), and especially since I’ve started my business.. He stresses out, which stresses me out. Not good for my creative genes! Or maybe it is… Hmmm.. I wonder.. I’ve lived a pretty stressful life (which I will not get into on a public forum) but it’s all made me stronger, better, and the person I am today, and I like her! So maybe I thrive in this.. What will I do when things aren’t stressful! Just imagine how creative I’ll be then! Ha!
So besides designing some albums, processing a wedding, designing Christmas cards, designing business cards & tweeking my marketing approach.. I just implemented a GIFT REGISTRY!!! I figure in this day & age, what a great Idea!! Getting your portraits done is a want, and now a days we can’t have everything we want.. SO gift registry it is! I revive my creative juices with a Venti Iced Caramel Mocciatto with a extra shot of espresso! Yeah that’s right that will jumpstart any creative soul, either that or give me a heart attack… LOL!! Yum
Tis’ the Season for Christmas Cards!
Every year I wait in anticipation to see the Christmas cards sent by friends and family.. My husband and I exclaim over how much our neices and nephews have grown, over how are young cousins are growing so fast and now have children of their own, and of course as a photographer and designer.. I’m always interested to see if they got their photographs and cards done somewhere or did them themselves. I come from a Creative group of friends and a creative family, and they’ve inspired me to design some Christmas cards this year to share with my Family, Friends and Clients.
I just started this morning in between painting our living room, and keeping our 2 toddlers (ages 3 and 2) out of the mischief they always seem to get into together. Here’s what I have so far! Enjoy!! I’m also going to design some folded cards. But that will have to wait until later.. I”ve got a living room to finish painting.
